Q & A
All food is Provided!
Q
Will
there be shower facilities for adults at camp?
A
There are plans
to have shower facilities at the camp as well as at the pool during your
Pack’s swim time.
Q
Regarding
washing facilities. Am I to understand that we cannot have water at all at
our site? The only time I can wash or my cubs for that matter, and I don't
mean a full shower, is during our pack's swim time? I am hoping that there
is some kind of accommodation being made in the sub camps areas to
accommodate some personal wash up other than the once a day at swim time. A
There will be wash
areas set up by each of the KYBOs. It will not be large basins for washing
hair, etc. but soap and water for washing hands and face. Also for brushing
teeth. Because we have no way for the individual campsites to dispose of the
gray water, they will not be taking water to campsites. As noted above,
There are plans to have shower facilities at the camp.
Q
Will
there be someone available to answer the camp phone for emergencies?
A
The camp phone is to be used for
absolute emergencies only (like
if an immediate family member takes ill and the child needs to be picked up)
It rings in several locations throughout camp and is answered live when
someone is available. It is also our only emergency outgoing land line from
the pool. Otherwise, callers are asked to leave a message.
Messages are screened regularly.
Q
What
time is check-out on the Saturday? A
Individual pack check out times for Saturday morning will be
pre-arranged by end of the day on Tuesday of Camp with the Pack Leaders.
Leaders at camp will be responsible to phone a parent contact who will
notify the others of the estimated pick up time.
Q Can we set up a homemade, dome-type shelter which is approx. 10’ x 18’,
but can be shortened in length? A
Shelters are not permitted at your individual campsites due
to space restrictions. Each sub camp will have a shelter for the youth with
tables.
Q
Will
there be picnic tables at each campsite? A
No, there won’t be enough space. Tables will be provided in the sub
camp shelter.
Q
Can we bring lanterns (naphtha and/or propane)?
A
No - no lanterns, stoves etc. are allowed.
Only battery operated lantern/flashlights permitted.
Q Can we bring a battery operated lantern?
A
Yes, and please make sure youth also have their flashlights with
extra batteries.
Q
Will we be able to leave our utility trailer parked at our campsite?
A
No, utility trailers can drive in and drop off gear in the sub camp
area between 12:00 and 2:30 pm. They will have to drive through to the
parking lot area where special designated spaces will be available for
utility trailers.
Q
The camp sites are situated along the top of a ridge (most are anyway).
Will the edges be marked off to prevent kids/leaders from falling off? If
not, can we put ropes up on our own sites?
A
All campsites will be on a flat field. There are rolling hills off
the field, but nothing dangerous. Areas throughout camp where youth should
not wander will be marked off with caution tape.
Q Our group will be traveling to Camp Everton by school bus, are we ok to
plan to arrive before 2:30 and have the bus unload at our Sub Camp?
A
All bussing arrangements will be accommodated but has to be
pre-arranged with the Registrar in advance.
Q How many groups will be in each Sub Camp?
A
The number of Packs designated in each Sub Camp will vary.
Q Does space allow for each group to bring a shelter?
A
There will be no space for any type of shelter or tarp area at your
individual campsites. Shelter will be provided for each Sub Camp.
Q
Will picnic tables be provided for in the shelter at the Sub Camp?
A
Yes, tables will be provided in each Sub Camp Shelter.
Q
Are there buildings that Offer of Service will be staying in, or are we
in tents also? A
Offer of Service will need to bring a tent. They will be camping
together in a separate part of camp, away from the youth sub camps.
Q
Is there a Sub Camp for Offer of Service or do we stay in the same Sub
Camp as our group? A
Offer of Service will be in a separate sub camp.
Q
Can a leader and cub (father/son or mother/daughter) sleep in same tent
(family camping style) particularly if the Pack is small and in a composite
situation? A
No,
all youth must sleep with youth of the same sex and parents are not
permitted to sleep with their child.
Q
Will there be a menu out on the web site soon;
it says to bring your tents? But should we be brining an awning with a small
kitchen for our own mug ups? Stoves for coffee and hot chocolate. Are we allowed
propane tanks in our site area?? What kind of space are we going to be limited
to? A
The menu will not be posted until such time as we have
contracted out the caterer and that will not be finalized until the spring.
As indicated, it is a fully
catered event even with coffee running 24/7 in the sub camp; all meals, mug up
etc will be provided – no stoves etc will be allowed in camps. Unlike a scout Canada Jamboree, we have the luxury of a lot of space at Everton and camp sites
should be very generous. Shelters and activity areas will be set up in each sub
camp and meal tents will be available. A full program of activities will be provided.
General supervision will be required, but we will also have Cub-free-Zones and
downtime for leaders as well. Please don’t hesitate in asking any questions, but most of the “details” will be
provided with the confirmation package of registered groups. Hope to see you at the Jamboree!
Q
How many spots do you have available. Our cub
group still can't give me an answer as to whether or not they are sending a
group and my 3 children desperately want to go. Is there another way of
registering? A
An option would be a Composite Pack, made up of individual
Cubs from many different packs. This is usually sponsored by an Area. Please
contact your Area Commissioner or Group Commissioner for more details.
Q
Have concessions been made
to the meal plan for Vegetarians? What about religious and other dietary
restrictions? A
Two meal streams will be available –
vegetarian and non vegetarian. Participants must choose which stream they are
and they stay in the stream the entire week. No switching back and
forth. Vegetarians will be identified by a mark on their ID bracelet which all
campers will wear, all week.
We do not have the budget nor resources for other food options and special meals
and cooking. You will not be allowed
to bring in food for cooking either.
Every effort will be made to keep the camp peanut free. Although we cannot
guarantee this (especially if other participants bring in food/snacks – even
though that will also be prohibited), all food purchased by Food Services will
be peanut free. This includes catering, snacks, hot chocolate, etc.
Q
I understand that all meals are catered, but there has been no mention
made of mess kits being required, or what to do with grey water?
A
All meals are catered, no cooking, no mess kits, no grey water in the sub camps,
but again the details will follow in the confirmation package in the spring.
Q
What is my membership number?
A
This number is found on your registration
form if you are a returning leader, on the label of Leader magazine or it can be
provided by your Group Registrar or directly from the Scouts Canada Membership
System.
Q
How do I get a print out of the active members of
my group? A
The Group Registrar will be able to
provide a listing of the members of your section from the Scouts Canada
Membership System.

is March 31st as is the second
installment due - the final payment is due April 30, 2010.

program activities; all food, drinks & snacks; all site services; all camp fees;
commemorative neckerchief and crest.

HISTORY!
Q
Why must there be a minimum of two registered leaders?
A
Scouting By-laws and Procedures state that
there must be a minimum of two registered leaders at all times and that Cub camps must have a
minimum of one additional Scouter for every six Cubs
in additional to the first 12 Cubs, to
maintain a ratio of 1:6.
Adults in excess of minimum ratio
must register at the full participant fee or
register and participate independent of their pack as an Offer of Service
Q
Can I substitute one youth or leader for
another youth or leader?
A
Yes.
Q
We have some very keen Beavers who turn 8 in the
fall of 2010. Is this a problem for attending CCJ10?
A
White Tail's who swim up to Cubs in the spring are entitled
to attend. However, it is up to the Cub leadership team to determine if the
youth is capable and mature enough to camp for a full week with the Pack.
Q
What will the CCJ10 program be like?
A
FUN!!! The program will contain elements appropriate to
the Cub program. Check the CCJ10 Program Highlights periodically for further updates.
Q
If providing Offer of Service, when will I be
expected to arrive? A
Offers of Service will be advised of their
expected arrival based on placement. For example, site services will need to
arrive earlier than Program. All details will be provided with your confirmation
package.
Q
Why is the cost for Offers of Service
less than
leaders and parents? A
It was decided to offer a
reduced rate to cover costs for all Leaders and Offers Of Service to make it as
affordable and accessible to as many groups as possible. The exception to this
is leaders in excess to ratio who want to participate.
Q
Will there be provisions for religious
observances? A
Yes. The Hospitality Care Corp will be available
to assist in any special needs.
Q
My child has a medical condition and limited
mobility. Can s/he attend CCJ10?
A
In general, if your child can
attend a regular Wolf Cub weekend camp then s/he should be able to attend and
enjoy the Jamboree. Please contact the Registrar
to discuss your situation further.
