Program Highlights

Each program day will start in your subcamp. Subcamp teams will provide an inspiring thought for the day, grace for meals, and never failing encouragement.

Each subcamp will have a drinking water station for all and a bottomless tea and coffee pot to keep Leaders energized! As well as garbage bags, bulletin board, etc., and a cheery Scouter to answer all your questions.

All meals are prepared and provided … the food lines will barely seem to exist as songs and laughter are passed down the line. Jolly jolly wolf cubs …. Yes we have food line games – every moment of the Centennial Cub Jamboree will be an opportunity to have fun and meet new friends in Cubbing !!

DAY PROGRAMS:
Cubs are accompanied by their Cub Leaders to each of the exciting Program Areas. A friendly Program Scouter(s) will greet you and lead you through the activity. There are 4 program days, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Filled with stimulating activities based on the Cub Program Goals and the Cub Achievement (Badge) Program.

Last year, FUN program activities included: Archery, Rockets, Clock Making, Plaster Casts, Climate Change activities, Survival of the Forest activity, to name just a few including numerous learning games, skill games, steam off games, as well as crafts, songs & stories.

EVENING PROGRAMS:
Each evening after dinner Cubs with their accompanying leaders are invited to join in optional activities or a camp wide game or campers that need some quiet time they are encouraged to visit their subcamp headquarters for puzzles, crafts and quiet activities.

Care Corp team is available at each subcamp for Cubs or Leaders that need spiritual and emotional support. This camp is your home for the week.

Program evenings will conclude with a campfire in your subcamp followed by mugup provided by the subcamp teams.

GIFTS OF PEACE:
The Centennial Cub Jamboree will long be remembered at Camp Everton as campers contribute each day to a unique lasting memory and Gift of Peace to Camp Everton. (Gifts of Peace will be directed by the Scouts Canada National Youth Committee – details to come soon).

WEDNESDAY JULY 28, 2010

This will be a general fun day with optional activities running all day long that you can join in, or explore the camp.

SUNRISE SCOUTS OWN CEREMONY:  Campers will rise early to the sound of the bugle call and head eagerly off to the Sunrise Scouts Own Ceremony … Along with the sound of the Kudo Horn we will be sharing words and readings with our brothers and sisters and a special remembrance.

ONE WORLD – ONE PROMISE will be our theme.

Cubs will participate in displaying flags from all the Scouting Countries in the world. We will join together in the Jamboree song, re-affirm our Scouting promises and through interactive activity develop our appreciation our rich history and our strong traditions.

CENTENNIAL CAMPFIRE: The pinnacle of the day will be the Centennial Campfire …. Magically lit by the spirit of Scouting … with ashes from the past sprinkled on our fire to remind us of our roots … FUN songs, ACTION songs, CHEERS, and the Jamboree Songs … each camper will close this day with an awe-inspiring sense of pride and assurance of hope for the future.

As Friday evening approaches …. The feeling of adjournment and completion sets over the camp.   DYB, DYB, DYB, …. We Did Our Best, Yes we Did Our Best!

THE CLOSING CEREMONY:
Campers gather for a final time, to share, to reflect. To tally our stock of experiences, each camper asks “Have I kept the Wolf Cub Law true, taught to me by Old Baloo ?“

Chil the Kite … brings home the night and shares with us the vision he has seen afar …  a message about the future …   What is over the horizon?  Today we close this camp and look to the future.

Camp sings:

Now Chil the kite brings home the night
That Mang the Bat sets free
The herds are shut in byre and hut
For loosed ‘til dawn are we.

The is our hour of pride and power
Of talon and tusk and claw
Oh hear the call,  Good Hunting’ all
Who keep the Jungle Law.

CLOSING GRAND HOWL - Flags are brought down.

Cubs  … you are the future

             … you are Scouting

… you are a Gift of Peace to the future.

Cubs bow their head for prayer … followed by silent individual prayer for 1 minute.

Akela says:

          Wood & Water - Wind & Tree

       Jungle Favour go with Thee

       Good Rest and Good Hunting
